The 11th biannual EISCAT 2003 International Radar Workshop was held August 25–29 at SRI International in Menlo Park, California. Hosted by the Center for Geospace Studies at SRI, the workshop was preceded by an Incoherent Scatter Radar School for new students and visiting professors.

Workshop sessions covered all types of radar studies of the ionosphere, generally reflecting the high-latitude interests of both the EISCAT Scientific Association and the US National Science Foundation.

Ninety people attended the Radar School and Workshop , presenting 78 papers and 28 posters. The final agenda, list of participants, submitted abstracts, lecture notes, and other meeting information can be found on this website.

EISCAT (European Incoherent SCATter) Scientific Association is an international research organization operating three incoherent scatter radar systems (at 931 MHz, 224 MHz and 500 MHz) in Northern Scandinavia. It is funded and operated by the research councils of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Japan, France, the United Kingdom and Germany (collectively, the EISCAT Associates). EISCAT studies the interaction between the Sun and the Earth as revealed by disturbances in the magnetosphere and the ionized parts of the atmosphere (interactions which also give rise to the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights).

SRI International is a nonprofit research institute, committed to discovery and to the application of science and technology for knowledge, commerce, prosperity, and peace. SRI's Menlo Park campus is located in California's Silicon Valley, approximately 30 miles south of San Francisco and 20 miles north of San Jose.
