Rocket Meeting Summary Cont’d
The summer/winter electrodynamics theme also complements a number of other scientific endeavors addressed at the meeting separate from the electrodynamics salvo previously discussed:
- Ion and neutral thin layer structures at high latitudes. These structures are sporadic and electrodynamically influenced. They seem to preferentially occur in summer although winter observations have been made as well.
- Cusp electrodynamics and its associated field-aligned current structure. Preferably a winter campaign for ground-based optical diagnostics but not exclusive.
- Ion outflow, field-aligned currents, and current closure. Summer or winter campaign
- Plasma microphysics, waves, radio emissions. Winter acceptable
The summer campaign would also favor experiments concerned with the unique conditions of the summer mesopause region
- NLC/gravity waves/composition/temperature
- NLC/PMSE/turbulence
